It may be well to quote his own statement made .on the streets of La Grande this week. - 'If I am elected to th Legislature 1 shall vote for the people choice for United S ates Senator as long as there is a chance of his election but should his cause appear' at near the close of the session to be hopeless, in order that United States Senator may be elected 1 reserve fie right to vote for the man who in my estimation will bes; 'Serve the state." This statement was also made to Mr. Bourne's representative and other citizens of this town, long before the primaries took place. Mr Dobbin states n county division. "I am frank to state to the votere of Union county that I stand exactly where I did two years ago. The votere of; this county certainly know where I stood on the question at that time and there has been nothing to cause me in any way to change my position, It is my belief that there is no nd of division of Union county and should I have a seat In the Oregon Legislature at tha next session I shall take the position that the interests of the citizens of Union county will be best served if I exert my influence against any county division bill which might appear at that time." Mr. James Smith of La Grande attend ed services her Wednesday night A number of our people attended the open meeting of the Lyle Tuesday Musical and were pleased with the programme rendered. Rev. 0. H. King of La Grande delivered the Baccalaureate sermon to the graduat ing class Sunday evening at the Union church. His theme was "Expansion," not n their school life alone, but also in the soul life, forming such characters that would make success of their lives here and that would stand the test when they went to meet the greatest of all teachers. All present were so delightfully entertained that the evening was one of enjoyment to both young and old.
