It is seldom that a troop of cavalry of the regular army is so wall treated in return for its gratui tous labors in behalf of charity as has been Troop H 'of the 15th Cavalry, on duty at Fort Myer, Virginia, which took art in a charity fete given at John R, McLean's country house near Washington' in behalf of the San Francisco tufferes. The Washington Woman who had obtain ed the services of the Troop was anxious to do Something for them. She got the leading caterer of the town to send ou an elaborate luncheon of sandwiches, ic 'cream and cake, with some kegs of beer, added to which she presented the troopJH with a silver loving up, inscribed "Brave ly they rode, and Well". Nothing has re cently pleased army people more than this act in acknowledgment of the services of the troop. (Scripps News Association) ARBOR DAY IN RHODE ISLAND. rcoviuHiice, tc I., may 1 1.
