Jewell, who has a rinch across the Clearwater river from Kamiah. made an unusual discovery, which has created much interest in the community, states a Kamiah correspon dent of the Lewiston Tribune. At the foot of a bluff of lava formation he start ed to dig for water and at a depth.- of two feet encountered hard frozen ground. This astonisned him, for it was in- July and the thermometer registerei .90 de gree in the shade, and the spot i expos ed to the direct rays of the sun all day. Mr. Jawell continued the ho! down about six feet and had to give up the job on accountof the hardness of the frozen stuff. ..- .
