At present there is nothing that can be sent out to homeseekers descriptive of this country. Hundreds of inquiries about this country practically unanswered every year simply because there it no literature de script ve in its nature to send out It is to our people to look after the dissem ination of the information desired by homeseekers. Republican. However, brother, the proper way would be for the county to appropriate about $300 for this purpose. The educational special trains have come to be important factors in agricul tural education all ovxr the middle west. And this year New England la also fall ing into line. Up to date the corn and soil specials have predominated; but we have had also dairy, horticultural and good roads specials and all have been very popular. Part of the Interest un doubtedly comet from the novelty of this plan of doing institute work. But so long at the people are interested and listen, improved farm methods are sure to result The farmers have not the public but the railroads to thank for these special trains for they are expensive fox tne railroads to operate and agricultural college pro fessors have to make sacrifices to thus travel over the country. Indirectly the colleges are rewarded by increased at tendance and the railroads by having larger crope to transport so all the farmers, the college people and the rail roadsare happy. ! . lltiieieei'e''"" " Have you weakness of any kind etonv ach, back, or any organs of the body? . It it only a short time until the primary election, and all sorts of people are offered for approval or rejection. The nsw law makes it possible for any man to get before the people for a nomination, but it does not necessarily follow that the people should endorse every man who comet up for public favor. It is espe cially important that the very best men be endorsed for the nomination at the primaries if the object of the new law is to be realized. The people are here given a chance to name the proper men as candidates for public office, and if they fail to avail themselves of the opportunity they havt only themselves to blame. Every voter thould make it a point to register, and then get out and vote at the primary election, or forever hold his peace as to gang methods and gang rule. It it up to the voter to remedy the evils to long complained of at election time. Union Republican. It certainly begint to look at though the Central Railroad hat begun work in earnest and their original plans are to be carried out They Tiave two miles of grading about completed and are work ing quite a force of men. The president Mr. Cleaver it in Portland, we understand arranging for the steel. The completion of the belt line means a great deal for thit country, In fact there it only one thing in our opinion that could be of greater Importance and that it an exten sive Irrigation project This road will help get that and the two work admirably together. When this county it covered with water, and electric railroada it will support thousands of people that is not now possible to do. Improves the flavor and adds to the health fulncss of the food. The farmers are very busy plowing this kind of weather and their absence was noted today, from our streets. La Grande should have a street rollei with which to mash down some of the high spots in the streets. This city will have dirt streets to conteni wun lor many years and some means should be provided to obtain the best results from them, We are many years removed from paved streets. The question of a place to dump city garbage is one that will have to be met and possibly will be at the meeting of the city council next Monday.
