LYLE TUESDAY MUSICALS) One of the latest social events in point of interest and numbers was the recital given by the Lyle Tuesday Musical yes terday afternoon in Mr. J. M. Berry' spacious parlors. Mesdames W. W. and Mrs. J. M. Berry, who arranged the pro gram, were the recipients of many com pliments for the splendid musicals treat and for the charming manner in which they entertained. Galloway and son came over from Union last evening to visit with re latives several days.; - J. E. Pollock has leased the City hotel in Elgin and will take possession on the 7th of next month. State Printer J. R. Whitney, left this morning for Elgin, where he will look after things political. ' G. W. Allen, who has been confined to his home for several days, is able to be out again. J. C. Smith left this morning for Port land to attend the dedication of the new Elk's hall in that city. W. W. Pollock and L! S. Pollock have purchased the Queen Chop House from J. E. Pollock, who in turn, has purchased the City Hotel of Elgin. . A. H. Cunningham, general store keep er for the 0. R. & N. with headquarters at Albina, is in the city today looking after business in his department. W. W. McMahon, formerly of Cove, was examined this morning by Dr. Hawke and County Judge Harrison regarding his san ity. The examination will be continued tomorrow. Mr. and Mrs. Al Warren left this morn ing for Casey, Illinois, where they will visit relatives for the next two months. Mrs: Warren's father resides there, and also a brother of Mr. Warren's On their return they will stop in Missouri to visit other relatives.
