Emm c OFFICE ROBBED Baker City, Nov. 1 4 In spite of all the efforts to locate the individual who is rob bing the individual mail boxes of letters containing checks and money, the thief still remains at large and continues his operations. Since last week when there were sev eral letters taken there have been more thefts.' Yesterday morning one of the employes of the Baker Electric Company picked up a letter lying on the ground back of their office. It had been opened but the contents still remained in the en velope. They proved to be a lUar o a certain firm in town and a check for $500. Challita is an Arabian and goes to Beyrout to bring back his wife and daughter whom he has not seen for 11 years. " Abraham left his family a long time ago to come to the new world to seek his fortune. With him, money was scarce and he feared that ha would not be able to earn a living for him self and family in a strange land where he knew not the language and customs of the country. Since leaving, prosperity has been with him. Hie wagon has been frequently touring the valley, trading small articles for country produce, which in turn has been turned Into ready cash. If the Republican nominee will make a joint canvass with Governor Chamberlain instead of letting him "go it alone." there is no reason why he should not be elected by at least 1 0, 000 majority with due respect for the Governor. The fractional fight among the Republicans of Oregon is over, since nobody is trying to be a "boss," there are no bosses to overthrow. Clarence Murphy was last night acquitted for tha murrini- of Mrs. Phoebe Wil iiams at Laeana nn the 1 1 th of last June. The jury was out about two hours. Murphy was re-arrested on the charge of murdering Chester maker, a grandson of Mrs. Williams. It is believed that the case will be dismissed as the evidence is about ths same as in the other case. Harry Love was arrested for the mur der and has made a full confession of th murder of Mrs. Williams and Chester Maker, but he claims that Murphy did the killing while he looked on. Love is now in prison serving a life sentence for the murder. It was proven that Murohv was at home at the time of the murder and that Love's confession is false. Love is now to be tried for the murder of Chester Maker, a crime most fearful. ? Didn't Condemn (Scrlppa News Association) Washington, D. C.
