The Governor oelicit ed the attention, of these coun try roads inaW,snd assuring them that the people of Idaho are heartily in sympathy with the good road movement these distinguished, men cheer fully acceded to his request, and agreed to halt and bold a two days Good Road Convention at Boise City on June 9ih and 10. List week the state road commission appro priated 7925,000 to make two roads which will cost $00,000, the people interested iu these roads having - pledged the re maining $35,000. . The snap which Idaho evin ces in getting out of the old ruts in road making, and other matters explains, why Idaho is developing so rapidly as to sur prise person, who in the long ago rode over that region and gladly left it a a land that seem ed eternally devoted to sage brueh, coyotes, desolate' moun tains and thirsty plains. Idaho is a much younger stale ,thsn Oregon, from which it was carved, with 10,000 Jess square miles of land sorfaoe and as the pioneers saw it not one-tenth of the productive land in Oregon and not . much if any ; betteij miner; yet the cold fact is that as state it is relatively grow ing raster. 111 population - than Oregon The per cent of in "reare in population in Idaho from 1890 to 1900 was 82.7 per fhile the increase in Oregon for 1 he game period was 30 2 per cent. Jo actual gain Idaho, for the decade, 1890 to 1900. ' added 73,224 to its i population and Oregon 95,856 but Oregon is larger than Idaho by' 10,270 f qua re miles. It is time for Oregon to wake up. 'Repu'able newspapers do not like to say harsh things of any one. It is a mistaken idea that the papers preter viiiiacaiiou iu their news columns to commen datory articles.
