White of Houlton and Miss Leona Perkins of St Helens are visiting Miss Pei kins' mother at Drain, Oregon, this week. Mans Chambers had a bad spell with his heart Sunday night, but is on duty again this week. Mr. and Mrs. J. G. Smith of Trenholm were shopping in Houlton this week. Mr. Smith reports that his son-in-law Fred Fleeter has killed thirteen wild cats, five couger and one bear this year, and has gone out after more accompanied by Tommy Woo man, the fish and game warden. The varmints had better lay low when a pair of scouts, with the re putation for accurate shooting of these two, gets after them. Mrs. Decker has taken the rooms over S. S. Long's confectionery. Dutch Eversaul's best horse came near dying last Monday. It was for fall sowing. caused by timing it into the water when too warm. The veternary calls it water founder but assures Mr. Eversaul that the horse has a good chance for recovery. YANKTON Remember the date. Sept 25-2f. Grange County Fair Yankton, Oregon. The Stevens family have moved into their new home at Mil ton Park. J. L. Butts is remodel ing his house making it practically new. A neat cottage is being built on the Slater place. Threshing goes merrily on in spite of badly damaged grain. Perley Brown and Tom Grewell are run ning the thresher this year and will finish in Yankton this week. I. T.
