J. II. Collius. County School Superintendent, Florence Thomas Dies at Her Home in Rainier Special from Rainier Florence E. Thomas, wife of L. S. Bachlor Flat A delightful supriso party was given on Miss Helen Iurnn, lost Saturday evening, by a few of her gchool mates and friends. The evening was spent in playing games and a delicious lunch was served at 12 o'clock after which all departed for their homes. Sherwood, coroner of (xdumbia County, has filed his dec laration of intention as a candidate for the Republican nomination for re-election to that office. Frank has U-en a resident of Columbia County for five years and during four of them has held the office of Coroner, giving his time and atten tion to theofHco. He is especially qualified for the position, Iteing a graduate of the Cincinnati! College of Sanitary Science, Anatomv and Embalming. He is a licensed under taker and w as for several oars con nected with the c roner's olllce in Multnomah County before moving to Rainier. Ho has recently con structed a morgue at Rainier at a coat of $2KK) to bo used as a pub lic morgue, and has also a branch undertaking parlor at Clatskanie. Elliott, died at tho home of her parents in this city Feb. 20th very sudden ly. She was stricken with heart failure at 3 o'clock in the morn ing and expired within a few minutes.
