The Ver nonia people are talking up these mat ter. Those who have visited St. Helen lately find the town uiJch improved and would gladly trade here provided they had a road over which a lair-ix.-d load could be hauled at any tiuieof the year. Mot only would ueh a road aid the ter minals, but it would beyond doubt build up the inttrveniiigcoutitry. There is plenty of good land between here and the Nehaleiu valley, bu no one care to attempt to nuke a hom- where they Will be unable to haul a had to market the greater portion of the ye.ir. l'os- -bly as good a way to arrive at tome deli nile course of action would be to rail a meeting at the proper time, of the citi zen of the twodistrict to tee if we can not agree as t'i the amount ol special tax necessary and the manner in which it should be expended. The first thing, however, would tea petition lor a sur vey, in order that the new road, if it i to be built, uiiy be upon practicable grade, that can be traveled by animal lees aure of loo", and capable of hat ling a larger load than a billy goat can pull up a mountain aide.
