Kills & Lee, of this city, are making all arrangements for the construction of a new dock in the rear of their properly on Water street. They are having the piling cut and the lumber has been pur chased, and building operations will be commenced as soon as possible, as the dock is to be fini.lied by the first day of January. 11107. It will lie l-'iO feet on the water front and extend back sixty feet One great benefit in connection with this new enterprise is that the dock will have about twentv-two feet of water at the lowest tide. Henry Wilson, of the firm of Wilson Ilro., of Oakland, Cal., has been in our City for several days, purchasing a cargo of luutlier for the steamship Svea. She will be in port one week from yesterday and will take about HOO.000 for Ihe lirm s yard at Oakland. He is also buying car goes lor the schooner Henry Vilon and A. B. Johnson, which are under the con trol of thi firm. Mr. Wilson also ex pects to do business in Rainier during the winter. The Independent Telephone Co. of thi city i preparing a telephone direc tory, containing the name of all sub scrilier to their phones. It will he ready for distribution in a short time, and will be the first work of its kind ever pub lished in Columbia county. The mechan ical work is being done at the Review ollice, and it will be a crediUble and utrlul publication. Mrs. C. I. Hooghkirk, Grand Chief of the Rathboiie Sisters, returned Saturday u.i (root an official tour in ihe interest of that r.ijidly growing organization. She visited Corvallis on her trip and re ports that Rainier's delegation at Ihe Ag ricultural College is studying in a way that will eventually reflect credit on their home loan. Rainier is credited with about five students at the A. C. Mrs. Mamie Lucas, daughter of Mr. ami Mrs. Wm. Simmon, was lancn 10 the hospital in Portland last Tuesday evening.
