The Columbia River Fishermen's Protective Union, at a meeting last Monday evening, fixed the opening price for salmon on the Columbia river fur the coming season at S cents per-pound for fish weighing less than 25 pounds, and 7 cents per pound for ihnse weighing 25 pounds or over. This is the same price as last season for the small fish, but is an advance of I cent for the large ones. The meeting also appointed a committee of nine to investigate and report at the next meeting on the question of initiating with the Fishermen's Pro tective Union of the Pacific Coast and Alaska. Especially by the Prohibition ist, who say that Norman Merrill signed a petition for a liquor license, Doan was instrumental in having a liqnor license issued to a saloon keeper at Rainier, and that Quick did take a drink of whiskey several years ago. We have leen well acqulnted wtth all three of the said gen tlemen for a long time, and know each , ,, I one of them personally and from knowledge of their qualifications we be- lieve the office will be filled by an honor- able, qualified and competent man if either one of the three receive the nomi nation and election.
