Tbe business men of Deer Island, with their usual push, have been soliciting ubecriptons of stock for the purpose of building a creamery. The plan, so we bave been informed, it to organize a co-operative stock company, placing the snare at low each. 1 wenty-nve shares have already been subscribed, and it is thought the remaining amount required can be secured with little difficulty. In the vicinity of Deer Island there i a great deal of milk produced, most of which bat heretofore been (hipped to Portland or fed to hog. The creamery enterprise will enable the farmera to realise cash for tbe products of their cows, and be an enterprise which will yield a neat profit. The old saying that a penny saved is two pennies earned, often come to mind these times. A back country settlor, in trying to verily the old say ing, missed it all around, lie went to Portland to find bargains, and of course, did pretty well. But on com paring prioe all around at Dolman's tore found that he could bave pur chased the same good In St. Helen for less money. But then Portland merchants cannot do much better.
