Myrtle Jones has returned to school after a brief absence caused by the measles. Another member of the freshman class, Robert Crlpe, also roturned after an absence caused by Illness. Other members on the sick list are Louis LaUare, Grace Howoll and Agnos Anderson. The girls' team will play basket ball with Clatskanlo a week from next Saturday night. The senior-Junior prom was held Thursday evening a Red Cross so cial and entertainment waa held in Columbia City under the direction of Mra. L. S. Bell and Mrs. L. II. Thomas, recently of St. Helena. Major Charles L. Tllden wjs chairman of the evening and delivered a thrilling address In bolialf'of Red Cross work, also touching upon many important phasoa and facta concerning the pres ent great war. The major has two daughters doing excellent work as Red Cross nurses, also a son at the front. Hla soul-stlrrlng remarks fired everyone present with renewed desire and determination to do a larger "bit" than heretofore, as pa triots of a great and free nation and the Red Cross work In Columbia City will go ahead with fresh Impetus, re sulting from the major's enlightening speech and hearty enthusiasm. He promised to double the amount raised that evening, which -proved to be $126, and with Major Tllden'a check reached $250 a nice little sum to help swell the great fund which gives mushroom In the night, the shipyard alone having one of the best equip ment to be seen on the whole Col umbia river.
