Geography Professor Andrew Marcus, who specializes in hy drology and geomorphology, is president of the University Sen ate. In addition to overseeing Senate activities, he sits on the Olympic Park Institute's Board of Trustees. Director Charles “Dusty" Miller heads operation of the Erb Memorial Union, which boasts an annual budget of $3.6 million. Miller has worked in student unions for more than 30 years and has been at the University since 1992. Miller is an Albany, N.Y., native who holds a bachelor's degree in his tory and a masters in student personnel administration. John Moseley, the senior vice president and provost, oversees the University’s academic, re search and student-related ac tivities. An alumnus of what is now the Stanford Research In stitute and a fellow of the Ameri can Physical Society, he is also involved in the University's diver sity and international programs. ASUO President Adam Petkun, a native of Aloha, is a senior majoring in political science and economics. Petkun oversees the ASUO Ex ecutive and functions as the official spokesperson for Uni versity students within and out side the University. Allan Price, a twodecade vet eran of public higher education, has served as vice president for university advancement since 2001. Price oversees develop ment, strategic communica tions, governmental affairs, trademark management and the UO Alumni Association. ——I.r i ASUO Vice President Mena Ravassipour is a senior gen eral science major from Mil waukie, Ore. Ravassipour is re sponsible for several budget recommendations, serves as an ex officio member of the Senate and would assume the duties of presidency in case of Petkun's absence. Dr. Tom Ryan has served as director of the University Health Center since summer 2003. With a background in both pri vate practice and university health centers, Ryan's principal roles are to provide leadership and support for center staff and to ensure smooth communica tion among departments. ASUO Public Relations Director Nathan Strauss has been a member of student government since his freshman year at the University. The Corvallis native has also worked as a marketing intern and elections board pub licity coordinator. Strauss, 19, is a journalism students taking the public relations sequence. He said his favorite parts about working in the ASUO are his co workers and gaining good expe rience in public relations. Biology Professor Emeritus Frank Stahl, the first scientist to demonstrate how DNA repli cates, works in the Institute of Molecular Biology. Dr. Stahl, who authored an (unpassed) University Senate resolution crit icizing the war in Iraq, hands out articles critical of the war and the Bush administration on 13th Avenue. Vice President for Administra tion Dan Williams, a Univer sity alumnus, served as ASUO student body president his senior year.
