It will end about 2:30 p.m. There will be no tickets for McArthur Court. Seat ing will be first come, first served and the doors will open at 10:30 a.m. In case of rain, all other ceremonies will be held indoors and the switch to rain locations will be announced on local radio and TV stations beginning at 6:00 a.m. on Saturday. You may attend and participate in the ceremony whether or not you are graduating. However, if you have not filed for a degree and are not actually graduating, your name will not ap pear in the program. Members of the Order of the Emerald (students who graduated more than fifty years ago) will also participate in the ceremony. Assembly Candidates should assemble on the covered tennis courts, south end, no later than noon. Graduates should as semble by college or school and, for the College of Arts and Sciences, by de partments. Doctoral candidates: Cards with your name and your adviser's name are handed out in the assembly area. Please make certain you have a card before the procession begins. Procession Faculty marshals and banner and sign carriers assemble and lead each group of candidates to their appropriate sec tion. Please remain standing until President Dave Frohnmayer asks you to be seated. Conferral of degrees Doctoral candidates Please stand when asked by the dean, and remain standing during the con ferral of degrees. When you are asked, come forward to be formally hooded, then hand your name card to the reader. Cross the platform to receive greetings from the president and your diploma cover from the provost. Re turn to your seat, and sit immediately. Master’s candidates Please stand when asked by the dean, and remain standing during the con ferral of degrees. Following the con ferral, you will be asked to sit. Individ ual recognition will be given at the individual college and school cere monies. Bachelor’s candidates Please stand when asked by the dean of your school or college, and remain standing until all candidates have been called upon and the degrees conferred. Once the degree has been conferred, move your tassel from right to left. Individual recognition will be given at the individual college and school ceremonies. Recession The recession marks the conclusion of the main ceremony. President Frohn mayer will ask the graduates to recess to individual ceremonies following the main ceremony. The deans, mar shals, and standard bearers will lead you. General information Disability Services Seating for guests with special mobili ty needs will be available. At the main ceremony, limited wheelchair seating in the southeast Corner of McArthur Court, is accessible from the doors on University Street. A sign-language in terpreter will also be present. We rec ommend that guests with impaired hearing sit in the first few rows of the southwest stands closest to the plat form. If you have questions about dis ability services, please call 346-1160, or visit an information booth on the day of the event. Diplomas Although degrees are conferred at Commencement, please remember that diplomas are not handed out at the time of the ceremony. Diplomas are mailed to the address given on the "Application for Degree” form ten to twelve weeks after graduation. Directions and parking On Commencement Day, information booths will be located at East 18th Av enue and University Street, East 15th Avenue and Agate Street, East 15th Av enue and University Street, and East 13th Avenue and Agate Street. For your guests' convenience, tour maps of the campus will be available at the information desk on the first floor of Oregon Hall, until 5 p.m. Friday, June 15. On Saturday, please ask for maps at the Erb Memorial Union Main Desk, (541) 346-4362 or at the information booths. Parking on campus during Commencement will be tight. Please direct your guests to the lots closest to your individual ceremony. The meters on the edge of campus will have a sticker that offers free parking for the day.
