Roommates Continued from Page 7C base comparisons, Story herself con ducts interviews designed to further screen applicants. “Sometimes, when people sit here and talk to me, it’s like a confessional. I hear a lot more than I want to. But I feel like I am a pretty good judge of charac ter. I don’t want someone who is a liar or a thief. And I do turn people away, al though not very often.” 1 .'.1,1. She said if there’s any advice that she would give above all else to those seek ing a roommate, it is to “meet potential roommates in a public place, like a cof fee shop or something. This cuts down on the intimidation factor that can arise from having a stranger in your apart ment or house, or from being a stranger in someone else’s place. Meeting in public is a great way to start. ” While there is no doubt that re sources such as this can be extremely helpful, use caution. They can some times lead to roommates that you might not have to had paid cash to meet. Rife found that out the hard way. “One of my roommates I had, I paid a place to find for me. I paid $35 dollars, i and later on I saw her same advertise ment for free on a bulletin board. I was mad that I paid for a roommate that I could have met for free.” •&\der Street Quads 1360 Alder 345-5949 Fall $275-$285/mo ★ Clean, Furnished ★ FREE Utilities ★ 1/2 Block To U of 0 ★ On-Site Laundry/Parking ★ Quiet Policy ★ Pet Free RESERVE NOW! t WALK TO CAMPUS!
