Surfacing: Concert tickets sold out ■ Continued from Page 5 Lilith Fair is in the preliminary stages of planning, but Portland has been named as the tour’s first stop. The acts confirmed thus far include Erykah Badu, Sinead O’Connor, the Indigo Girls and Natalie Mer chant, according to the Web site. McLachlan first entered the music scene with her CD “Touch,” which was released in 1988 and went gold in Canada. Her next CD was “Solace” in 1991, which included the tracks “Drawn to the Rhythm” and “Into the Fire.” “Solace” brought McLachlan’s music more into the mainstream and further ex tended her fan base. “Fumbling Towards Ecstasy" in 1994 brought on McLachlan’s breakthrough in the United States. Tracks such as “Hold On,” "Pos session” and “Good Enough” brought out the fans, and “Fumbling Toward Ecstasy” eventually sold 5 million copies. Joining McLachlan on the stage in Eugene tonight will be Lisa Loeb, whose songs include “Stay” and "I Do.” Loeb will be the opening act for all shows during the spring tour. McLachlan and Loeb will be performing in Sacra mento on Saturday and in San Jose on Monday. The ten shows after tonight’s are all also sold out. Tick ets are still available for the shows in Asheville, NC; Charlotte, NC; Portland, Maine; and Buffalo, New York. Tickets for the Eugene show have been sold out since the day after they went on sale. A couple of op tions are available for people who weren’t quick enough to purchase a ticket before they sold out. 95.3 FM KNRQ is holding two ticket giveaways. The first is a “pre-show party” at the Nexus Club from 5 to 7 p.m. before the concert. There will be two front-row tickets and backstage passes given away, as well as some CDs "and hopefully some autographed stuff,” said Jason Kerber of the Nexus. “1 don’t know if she’s coming or not,” he said. “Cross your fingers.” In addition, two other pairs of tickets will be given away. The pre-show party is 21 and over only. The second promotion is called "Expose the Q.” Ticket holders who want to trade their tickets for front row seats are encouraged to do whatever they can to promote the station. According to program manager Stu Allen, at 7:45 DJs will choose one per son in the lobby of the Hult Center who “gets their attention” to participate in the trade.
