Former law dean Frohnmayer takes UO’s presidential reins ■ ADMINISTRATION: W position he entered temporarily became permanent this summer By Sean M Smith Oeooe Efcwy frrmml The State Board of Higher Education announced the per manent appointment of Dave Frwhnmayer as University pres idem June lie making him the 15th president in the University's 119-vear history The hoard approved Frohnmavwr s position follow ing the recommendation of OSSHK Chancellor Joe Cox, who met with University stu dents, faculty, alumni and com munity members before addressing the Ixmrd. Frohnmayer said in a June 19 phone interview that he is opti mistic and realistic about the presidency and the year ahead of him It's a thrill, a challenge and a deep responsibility that I hold very personally,' Frohnmayor said "It's a thrill because the University is a groat institution It's a t hat longo because I'vti novnr roallv done anything like this boforo and it s a drop respopnsihility because I have always cared about this institution in a deep way. 1 believe in the people, and it s exciting to see us unleash our potential It s the [ample that make the place.
