'Eire Maple Song,’ debuted on MTV a couple weens ago that the fat jeans and Cham wa.iei gang sat up and took notice Was it the deeply personal fyncs of the song or the MTV promotion that prompted these super'up ’alternative' music lovers to make time m their busy schedules to hang out on the street outside la Luna7 1 don't know, but I really wish they woukin ! watch so much M TV As for the rest of World of Norse. Van Haten put out n live album, had a world tour, fought with each other backstage at the MTV video music awards, dealt with huge rumors that David Lee Roth may return and tried to reinvent themselves in the mage department These tour years of change arid frustration are well told in Balance. the band s test studio album with longtime triend and producer Ted Tempieman For this latest effort (and to keep in line with its theme tor changes), veteran producer [Truce Fairbairn (Aerosmith, Bon Jovi} was brought in T tvs change seems to have helped Van Haten strike the balance of sound and new attitude they so desperately needed The attitude is weak but the sound is great Looking at the back cover photo of the album, you can't tett it this is realty Van Haten or WeVe got everything... vi ^ 2 ITIagtc the Gathering t w. * Jokes * Comtct tt’i a htn pLtct —» Chazpro Family Fun Shop 603 E. 13t*\, Eugono (2 Hock* fntm compuo now SacrmJ Hurt) 346-0032 • 10-6 M-F. 10-3 Sat.
