In brief Lecture kicks off series The University Forum will kick off its 1985-86 lecture schedule Oct. 22 with a talk titl ed “Fish Runs to Flu Victims: i r Twenty-Five Years of Ar chaeology in Alaska.'1 The culture of the prehistoric settlers of Alaska, their initial migration to the area and their encounter with the industrializ ed world will be discussed by Don Dumond, University an X.. .. — thropology professor and direc tor of the University Museum of Natural History. Carlhian. a member of the na tion’s oldest architectural firm in Boston will give the fourth lecture in the series. ■‘Tradition and Vitality: Architecture and Planning in Boston." Carlhian will draw upon his experience on the Back Hay Commission and the Boston landmarks Commission for tho talk. "Preserving What, Whore and How: Boston’s Back Bay — A Casa Study." Carlhian, who was educated in France, also served as a con sultant on the Krench-Ameriean Committee for the Restoration of the Statue of Liberty. The lecture series is funded in part by the Oregon Committee for the Humanities, which is an affiliate of the National Endow ment fur the Humanities, and by the Stafford Fund.
