Johnson Hall’s newest claim to fame The University's administration building no longer has to rely.on the movie "Animal House" for its shot at immortality. Johnson Hall, has won an official place in 0 history by being put on the National Register of Historic Places, according to a. recent announcement by Oregon's Historic Preservation office. . The building, erected in 1915 and named after John Wesley Johnson, the first - president of the University, is the third building on cainpus to be registered. Raised in Oakridge and Klamath Falls, he joined the Marines in rhe early 60\s, settled in San Diego (working for soda pop giant Coca Cola), but longed to move back to Oregon. So in 1475 he returned to Eugene and joined the booming real estate business. Five years later he purchased the kitchen trailer that was to become the home of The Great Oregon Burger Company. He opened for business on the site where it stood, next to the Sunny Station near l.CC. Nine month's later br.other/partner Michael discovered and helped acquire their present location.
