This $40.000 Silver Anniversary" van highlights the World of Wheels Custom Car and SpeedShow' The show runs all weekend at the Lane County Fairgrounds Top cars park in Fairground The West's top rods, custom cars, bikes, boats, vans and four-wheel drives will be on display today through Sunday at the Lane County Fairground’s Grant Exhibit Hall More than 100 enthusiasts have entered their cars in the World of Wheels Custom Car and Speed Show A number of custom cars built by nationally known designer Darryl Starbird will highlight the exhibit Starbird's $65,000 futuristic Z-Bird will be on display, as will his $40,000 Anniversary Van, built in honor of his 25 years as a custom-car builder The Anniversary Van features a 500 horse power Chevy V-8 engine, and the interior is decorated with modernistic couches, chairs and a bed, all done in silver plastic and red velvet with silver naugahyde upholstery There will also be national and local au tomobiie-oriented exhibits, plus a large display of new cars The show runs from 5-11 p m today, Saturday from 11 a m to 11 p m and Sunday from 11 a m to 5 p m SUNDAY NIGHT SPECIAL! $1.00 Off with U of O I D. IFC tables fund request by paper, tells groups to tighten their belts The Incidental Fee Committee decided Thursday to table for one month a request by AVENU, the achitecture and allied arts student newspaper, for more money to see if the publication could generate more funding through advertising AVENU originally requested $1500 from surplus for printing costs and a director s stipend, IFC chairer Bart Hill said After some discussion, the news paper requested $350 for gen eral expenses at the meeting, he said Marsha Back, managing edi tor of AVENU, said the money is needed to offset printing reven ue that was ci.t oft by the Southwest Oregon chapter of American Institute of Architects After discussing the problem with Hill, the newspaper has experimented with advertising in its first issue, she said It would be a dangerous precedent for the IFC to reverse past committee decisions by dipping into the surplus fund, said David Gibson, ASUO vice president of administration and finance Groups are going to have to make adjustments this year because there is little money, Hill said.
