Shamefaced, the Deadlenins shuffled off the dusty field suffering the jeers of Hardly Worthit, the incestuous Siamese twins Dave Kanner Dan Clark, and a host of other disreputable FM radio-types But since that dismal perfor mance the Deadlenins have re turned to life, defeating the Masterbatters 17 to 4 and roundly trouncing the Register-Guard's team by the score of 27 to 9 In a doub leheader with the Springfield News Sunday, Deadlenins downed the “Newsers" 12 to zip. and 12 to 3 And now a rematcn wan is in the offing — and the Dead lenins are chomping at the bit. Deadlenins' manager, Ger man-Rastafarian Hans Healy, says, “Hey, day was lucky, to talfie Next time no no no we gash'em good We be awe some, mon " The grudge match is set for 6:30 p.m Wednesday on one of the University intramural fields Spectators are not usually unwelcome After Wednesday it will be K2EL who recites: Oh! somewhere in this favored land the sun is shining bright; The band is playing somewhere, and somewhere hearts are light. ESCAPE directorship awarded to Blankinship DeShauna Blankinship, a senior in English, has been selected as director of ESCAPE for the 1982-83 academic year ESCAPE, whose name is an acronym for Every Student Car ing About Personalized Educa tion, is a student-run program involving about 1.200 students per year The program offers credit for work in schools, student programs and the com munity Blankinship, who has been involved in the organization for a year-and-a-half, says she ap plied for the job because of her commitment to the organiza tion’s programs and belief in the "goals and philosophies of the program " Because the program is dir ected by a 15-member steering committee, she says that the director cannot personally ef fect many changes — but that she doesn't plan on making changes anyway The program's goal next year will be "continuing to offer the same things that we are now'' and producing "not so much changes as growth,” Blankin ship says As for funding cuts totaling 24 percent in the last two years, she says that “we took a pretty good cut I can't say that's its not going to hurt us but we re still going strong ” "It’s not going to jeopardize the program in terms of what we offer students," Blankinship says, adding that the program will simply have to econ omize.” ESCAPE students next year will also strive to "make the community and campus more aware of the kinds of things we offer," she says 2526 Willamette 683-1405 M - F 10 - 7.
