Some never leave Although new students may wonder about the implications of a cemetery on campus, the 15'/2-acre Pioneer Memorial Cemetery on the corner of 18th Avenue and University Street actually does not belong to the University. Started in 1873 by the Odd Feilows, the cemetery contains more than 5,000 graves and is supposed to be the highest area of land near the University, with views of the Coburg Hills and Skinner’s and Spencer’s Buttes.
