Oregon finished with 15 team points, which placed them around 20th in the tournament. Iowa shattered the tour nament record, amassing 129% points to easily outdistance all opponents. Oregon, the Pacific-10 Con ference champions, finished behind both Oregon State (10th) and Arizona State (11 th). Kelly, 167, assured of an All American ranking by reaching the semifinals, lost to Tony Mantella of Temple University, 5-2, in the semifinal match. He then returned in the con solation semifinals to beat John Forshee of Iowa State, the number one seed entering the tournament, 5-2. But Kelly fell in the consola tion finals to Gino Savegnaga of Eastern lllonois, 8-2, to finish fourth. “I’m really pleased with Ryan, both with his performance in the tournament and for the job he has done all year long,” said coach Ron Finley. Only the top three in the semis advanced to the finals. Tennis squad sponsors meet The Green and Gold tennis championships, an open com munity competition, will be held on the University courts March 20-22. Entrants in the adult and jun ior divisions must submit their applications by 5 p.m. Tuesday. Forms are available at the McArthur Court ticket window. Entry fees range from $3.50, 18 and under doubles, to $10, 35 and over singles.
