The Adams exhibition, titled "Ansel Adams: Photographs of the Southwest, 1928-68,” documents the photographer's 40-year love affair with the peo ple and landscape of southwes tern United States. The exhibit, which will be displayed through April 19 in the first floor gallery, includes many of Adams' most famous photographs. “Ansel Adams, who is now 79 years old, is perhaps the most revered of all living photo graphers,” said Ben Kerns, committee chairman of the "Photography at Oregon Gal lery," the exhibition’s sponsor. “The Oregon showing is con sidered a major chronicle in his life’s work.” The work of Thirza Kotzen, a visiting University art instructor from Johannesburg, South Africa, will be exhibited through April 19 in the first floor main gallery. Commenting on her oil paintings and prints, Kotzen says “having lived in and ex perienced many different envir onments and cultures through out South Africa, England, Eu rope and the United States, I depict my environment in my work by placing everyday ob jects in symbolic relationships.” A $1 admission fee will be charged for the Adams’ exhibi tion only. All proceeds will go the “Photography at Oregon Gallery” committee to help de fray costs, with any profits raised set aside to help bring photography shows to the mu seum in the future. briefs SPEAKERS Rep.
