At any rate, Jimmy Buffet will sail into Eugene Tuesday at 8 p.m. in Mac Court Jimmy Buffet with his Coral Reefer Band and special guest Tim Weisberg. A college journalism graduate, Buffet lists his occu pation as Professional Misfit. He performed solo for several years before combining Roger Bartlett (guitar), Greg Taylor (harmonica), Harry Daily (bass), and Phillip Fajardo (drums) to form the Coral Reefers in 1975 — the same band that backs Jimmy live and in the studio. Buffet has six albums to his credit (A White Sport Coat and a Pink Crustacean, Livin' and Dyin' In 314 Time, At A, Havana Daydreamin’, and Changes In Latitudes-Changes in Atti tudes) with Son of a Son of a Sailor his latest. Buffet com poses the majority of his songs and most of those works reflect his lifestyle, attitudes and events in his life. Chet Flippo in Rolling Stone says, “There could not be a more perfect example of a writer/singer who merges music with life and has a won derful time doing so.” With a broad ghn and a pen chant for the exotic and ab surd, Buffet creates musical short stories weaving humor, geography, romance and a few crazies. When Jimmy’s not working, he’s enjoying himself — he recently finished off a sailing venture on a larger ver sion of the sailboat pictured on his Changes album, that took him to the Lesser Antilles in the northwest Caribbean. Buffet also in the last year composed the musical score for the movie Rancho Deluxe. (Continued on Page 8B) ‘I do! I do!’ opens Carnival season I Do! I Do! will open the Carnival Theatre's sea son Friday, June 16 at the Robinson Theatre. Directed by professor emeritus Horace W. Robinson, for whom the theater is named, / Do! I Do! is a musical based on Jan de Hartog’s 1951 play The Fourposter. It concerns the 50-year mar riage of Agnes and Michael and their many agonies and ecstasies. The musical begins with their wedding day and follows their marital life through the birth of their two children, middle age, and their coming to terms with old age and grateful acknowledgement that life, after all its many conflicts, has been kind. Agnes is portrayed by Sue Pack Newbury, pre viously in The Unsinkable Molly Brown and How to Succeed in Business. John Flaherty, who has ap peared in The Apple Three and When You Cornin' Back, Red Ryder?, stars as Michael. I Do!
