Media, labor plan forum A two-day workshop at the Eugene Hotel Thursday and Fri day will bring together labor lead ers and media representatives to consider the rote of the media in interpreting labor issues. The workshop, to start at 8:30 a.m. Thursday in the Emerald Room and at 8:30 a m. Friday in the Enterprise Room, will include a luncheon address at noon Fri day by Oregon Gov. Bob Straub. Straub will speak in the King Cote Room. Sponsor of the workshop is the Oregon Labor Education and Re search Center (LERC), at the University. Co-sponsor of the Straub talk is the Lane County Labor Forum. Workshop sessions Thursday wiR be geared to teaching publica tions techniques to labor union personnel. Friday the workshop will focus on the commercial media’s coverage of organized labor. Participating in Friday panel discussions will be Pat Randall of Salem, secretary-treasurer of the Oregon AFL-CIO; Robert Ingalls, publisher of the Corvallis Gazette-Times; Dulcy Mahar, communications director of the Oregon Education Association in Salem; Fred Webb, news director of radio station KUGN in Eugene; Pat Leyden, commisioner of the Federal Mediation and Concilia tion Service in Portland and David Selvin, editor of Northern California Labor, a San Francisco labor newspaper.
