IIFC votes to allow value judgments After much discussion during a meeting Thursday night the IFC voted 6-0 to change their previous criteria and allow the members to make value judgments “as we perceive the students' values.” Chairer Doug Benson said this "allows us to make value judg ments in political funding.” He added he could not, in good con science vote on a value judgment, while it is not in the criteria. “Any values we use, we are perceiving the students’ values,” explained Benson. The committee was able to use its new criteria while voting to grant the People for Southern Af rican Freedom $100.00 to bring Calistus Ndlovu, representative to the U.N. from Patriotic Front of Zimbabwe to the campus to speak of the current situation in South Africa. Benson felt that this was an event that “students could possi bly be interested in.” r The IFC voted to place $100.00 ($85 for travel, and $15 for adver tising) in the Cultural Forum to be used for the Southern African Support Committee to bring in a guest speaker. The Cultural Forum funds are depleted, and the decision was made to avoid creating a new program. In other business the committee voted to postpone voting on a de cision to reimburse the University Theatre for losses suffered by a rise in student attendance to the plays presented. The losses are caused by the theater giving stu dent discounts for which they have to pay half. “Students are using the program more than budgeted for,” explains Dave Tyler. The funds are gone and there are more plays left. “I’ve come with my tam bourine,” claimed Marya Bed nerik, spokeswoman for the Uni versity Theater. CLASSIFIEDS 686-4343 1TOR SALE SAILBOAT. The first minute I heard this stereo system, I knew it was the one . . . JVC, DFS, and Empire! It was my kind of sound. 1 like classical and some rock music and had been all over town looking for a stereo. I fell in love with its full, deep, rich sound. My heart said go for it, but my pocketbook said wait, see how much. So, I asked the price. Could you believe, by buying it as a complete system I saved over $119.00! And it included a good warranty program plus local service! I didn’t have all the money, what with taxes and all, but with napier audio’s credit terms, I got to take it home anyhow. It was the music of my dreams. CHOOSE YOUR OWN SAVINGS!
