Some of the movies include, “MASH,” “Klute,” “Little Big Man,” and “The World of Buckminster Fuller,” among others. Eugene has eight indoor movie theatres which will be presenting various films this fall. Located within walking distance on campus is the Mayflower theatre on 11th Avenue. Downtown on the Mall are the National and the McDonald theatres. Also downtown, on Willamette is the Heilig theatre. The Oakway Cinema is located in the Oakway Mall off Coburg Road. Out at Valley River Shopping Center is the Valley River Twin Cinema, with two theatres. And in Springfield, on Main Street is the Fine Arts theatre. Eugene also offers a wide variety of drive-in theatres. If you are simply looking for a ^ttace to eat on campus, the west of campus offers a variety of restaurants and two bars. The Excelsior Cafe, reminiscent of a Parisian outdoor sidewalk cafe, is located on 13th Avenue be tween Alder and Hilyard. The New World Coffee House, serving teas, cold drinks, soups and sandwiches is located on Alder between 13th and 12th. That same block includes Pizan’s,a sandwich house, and the Bamboo Pavilion, a Chinese delicatessen. Around the corner on 13th between Alder and Kincaid are Duffy’s and Ben’s Pour House, two establishments serving beer, wine and sand wiches for those over 21. In the same block are The Bull Shed, another sandwich place and The Oak Pit, a cafeteria style restaurant. Down 13th a little way is the Eggsnatchur, a natural foods restaurant. None of the orchestra members are professionals, they are just people who devote Tuesday nights to playing as part of an orchestra for fun and recreation. No auditions and no dues are required. The time for rehearsal is Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. The place is the rear of Jefferson Junior High school bandroom For further information call William Tweedie at 345-0464. Before the summer passes into winter, you also might want to do a little recreating at some of the water, boat and swim areas around Eugene. Fern Ridge, located west of Eugene, has facilities for boating, swimming, sailing, waterskiing and pic nicking. Fall Creek reservoir is located to the east and Cottage Grove Reservoir to the south The Oregon coast is only an hour from Eugene and Honeyman Park, just south of Florence, offers sand dunes to play on. Begins tonight on cable-12 Counter culture talk show on TV Cable 12 TV is offering a talk show of interest to University students beginning tonight (Sept 21) from 8 p.m. to 9 p.m. The show, organized by Jeff Spolan, will continue over a period of eight weeks. The format will in clude an announcer, Spolan, and local talent, ar tisans, craftsmen, musicians and music, and discussions among community people.
