Campus Happenings Today STEVE CARTER, a Peace Corps volunteer, will answer any questions concerning the corps every Monday beginning today from 1 to 3 p.m. in the Inter national Education Center Of fice, Room 319, EMU. Service Stressed By IFC President University fraternities should direct their initiative away from “hell week” toward community service, Inter-Fraternity Council President Chris Mullman told an audience of about 350 rushees in McArthur Court Thursday night. In a brief speech Mullman warned the audience composed of freshman that fraternities would wither away if they weren’t relevant. He said the fraternity system could no lon ger be strictly a social system or dating service. The IFC President also told the rushees the future of the fraternity system at the Univer sity depended more on them than on him as the president. Dean of Students Donald Du shane and Assistant Dean of Men John English also spoke briefly to the group. Formal rush for IFC will be gin Thursday evening and will continue through Sunday. ALL PAST, present and pros pestice students of Russian and other Slavic languages may attend an open meeting and reception sponsored by the Russian Language Club by 3 p.m. today in Room 101 EMU. Introduction of faculty, election of officers, organization of a Russian Language Table, and a panel discussion are on the pro gram’s agenda. Future C. W. SCHMINKE will be the guest speaker at a meeting on the “Role of Graduate Students in the College of Education.” The meeting, for all masters and doctoral candidates in Curricu lum and Instruction, is sched uled for 12:30 to 1:20 p.m. Tues day in Room 136 Education. “MORALISTS VS. IMMORAL ISTS: The Great Battle in Scan dinavian Literature in the 1880’s” will be the topic of a lecture by the head of Scandina vian studies at Cambridge Uni versity at 8 p.m. Tuesday in the EMU.
