Speech Team Faces Biq Test Ten University students will compete with 500 other student* from 18 western states at the Western States Speech Tourna ment on the University of Wash ington campus in Seattle, Thurs day through Saturday Coach W, Scott Nobles, assocl ate professor of speech, will ac company his forensics team. The Western States tournament Moore Will Lecture Today Charles W. Moore, arohitect, teacher, and writer, and chair man of the Yale University De partment of Architecture, will give a public lecture at the Uni versity at 8 pm. today. It will be held in 138 Commonwealth. Moore's topic will be, “The Graduated Inside." Hi* will be a guest of the Ore gon School of Architecture and Allied Arts on two days, today and Thursday, December 1, and will serve as a member of the jury for the American Institute of Architects regional awards pro gram November 29 through De cember 1. The de baters include the team Of Gary Roberts and Gregory Mowe, and the mixed team of Stephen Mc Laughlin and Susan Tmtgate, senior men. Sue Miller and Laura Grlftth, senior women; David Anderson and John Eads, junior men; and Rebecca Nobles and Starla Banta, junior women. Each student will also enter two of the tournament’s four in dividual speaking events—extem poraneous speaking, persuasive speaking, expository speaking, and oral interpretation. Speaker Victim Of Assassination The assassination of Robert E. Moran in Guatemala as reported Thursday, is of particular signi ficance at the University. Moran was to have lectured and presented a film on the Do minican Republic, as a part of the World Around Us film-lecture series, sponsored by the Student Union Board. Earlier in November, when Moran was reported missing in Guatemala, Jack Currcy, a close associate of the missing man, was selected as a possible lecturer. He will now be scheduled to present the film, according to Student offi cials. Currcy Is currently in the Do minican Republic, filming more recent scenes that will be present ed in the November 29 program at 8 p.m. In the SU. No Browsing Room Talk Wednesday No Browsing Room Lecture will be delivered on Wednesday. Browsing Room lectures are normally scheduled every Wed nesday evening during fall, win ter, spring and summer terms at the University. They are spon sored by the University Library.
