Starr to Lecture At 'Heart' Conference Albert Starr, co-inventor of the j Starr-Edwards heart valve, will be the featured speaker at the “You and Your Heart" confer ence. Starr, bead of the cardiopul monary surgery at the University Medical School in Portland, will speak at 8 p.m. today in McAr thur Court. Flemming Holds Office Hours President Flemming will hold office hours for students from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. today. 'Why Viet Norn' Film Here Today The film. “Why Viet Nam,” just released by the Department of Defense, will be shown at 4 p.m. today in the World Affairs Briefing Center in the Student Union. The film traces the history of the Viet Nam situation from the French withdrawal up to the present time, and specifically the development of the U.S. commit ment there from economic aid. to military advisors, to combat units. President Johnson, Secretary of State Rusk, and Secretary of De sense McNamara explain the rea sons for this growing commit ment, our goals in Viet Nam, and U.S. policy towards expanding the war and negotiations. Lamanski to Talk At SDS Meeting Ed Lamanski, general secretary of the Progressive Labor Party and organizer of the trip that took students to Cuba a few years ago will speak at the 7 p.m. meeting of the Students for a Democratic Society today. Lamanski will speak on the • Bill Epton Story.” Epton was sentenced to five years imprison ment for allegedly starting and organizing the Harlem riots in New York. Besides the informational pro- j gram, there will be a day long series of clinical seminars at Sa-; cred Heart Hospital for physi- j cians and health workers. “You and Your Heart Day" is designed to provide information on heart research anil treatment to members of the medical pro fession and the general public. Walter Swanson, chairman of the Lane County Unit of the Oregon Heart Association, said “this is a once-in-a-lifetime oppor tunity to gain information which might save your life, or the life of one of your loved ones. Many people are not aware of the wonderful developments which have been made in recent years in heart research and treatment.” Delta ilpsilon Elects Delta Upsilon has announced the election of new officers for 1966. Those elected include: Warren Houston, president; Rich Reeder, vice-president; Rex Sorenson, house manager; Mike Kaempf, secretary; Doug Lieual len, chapter relations; Jud Shutts, IFC representative; Mike Rainey, rush chairman; and John Alden, pledge trainer. Miller Analogies Test Scheduled1 The Miller Analogies Test will be given on Wednesday, Feb. 9 at 3 p.m. In 138 Com monwealth. College Teachers Plan Conference Leona Tyler, dean of the grad uate school, will speak at the opening session of the I960 Ore gon State Conference on College Teaching, which will be held at Oregon State University Friday and Saturday.
