Eleven Attend Meet Of Republican League K If von University Republicans attended the State Republican College League meeting at Wil lamette University Salem Feb. ti At the meeting the annual College Republican convention was tentatively set for April 10 11 in Portland. Dave Walker, chairman of the University College Republican Club, reported on the club's growth and activity. Jim Jones, general chairman of the model convention committee, outlined the convention program and an nounced the convention kickoff Friday with the appearance of Hack Miller, Iowa senator, on the campus. Carl Washburn, a Reed College delegate, gave a report on the Arts and Sciences Committee of the state organization. Michael H. Smith of the University is the committee’s local representative. In other business Sidney Srnith ers of Lewis and Clark College was appointed as finance director, and Cary Putnam was designated as state executive secretary. State Representative Robert Pack wood of Portland spoke on the coming primary campaign, outlining the manner in which college students can aid local candidates. Job Opportunities Interviews will be held Feb. 18 for positions as secondary teach ers at Hillsboro union high school in Hillsboro, Ore. Tigard public schools, Tigard, Ore., will conduct interviews Feb. 20 for elementary and secondary teachers-. I.ong Beach unified school dis trict of Long Beach, Calif , will hold interviews for elementary and secondary teachers Feb. 20. Interviews for positions as teachers at American River junior college of Sacramento, Calif., will lx- held Feb 21. Tillamook, Ore., school district will interview persons for posi tions as elementary and secon-, clary teachers Feb 20 1 S. Army material command will interview persons Feb. 20 for positions as physicists, chem ists and mathematicians; bacterio logist, entomologist, biologist, me teorologist. I S. Forest Service, Pacific Northwest region, will conduct in terviews Feb 20 for positions in Washington and Oregon for ma jors in accounting, liberal arts, personnel and business adminis tration. Fibreboard Company will in-: terview accounting majors with B S. or B A degree* and students n\ any major with master’s de gree and a strong interest in in dustrial sales Feb. 20. Boulder Lab., National Bureau of Standards, will hold interviews Feb 20 for all degree levels in physics and Ph D. degree in phys ical chemistry for a position in Boulder, Colo. Army and Air Force Exchange Service will interview majors in business administration, liberal arts, and architecture Feb. 21 for positions on military bases throughout the United States. Fidelity Mutual Life Insurance Co. will hold interviews Feb. 21 (or jobs in Portland or other ma jor Oregon communities. Busi ness majors are preferred, but no specific majors will be ex cluded. Equitable Life Assurance So ciety will interview liberal arts and business administration ma jors Feb. 21 for positions in Ore gon. Aetna Life Insurance Co. will interview business, economics, lib eral arts and education majors Feb. 21 for positions in sales, sales management, controller and office management training in Eu gene and Portland. Clinic to Evaluate Learning Problem An evaluation clinic for the! child with learning problems will be held at. the University Friday, j The symposium will take place ; in the Student Union arid will be attended by an estimated 50 principals, county and district school superintendents, and spec ial education personnel from schools in Linn, Lane, Douglas, and Uoos counties. The University School of Edu cation and the Oregon State De partment of Education are co sponsors of the meeting. Mrs. Ruth Waugh, instructor in edu cation, is in charge of arrange . ments. Purpose of the symposium is to review the facilities asailable for! children with learning difficulties I and to discuss better ways of util izing and improving them. The symposium will be sup-! ported partially by funds from an annual grant from the State De partment of Education to the ! School of Education for support of an educational evaluation clin ic, part of the total program of school psychological services at the University. Orides Elects Officers Fenny Schreiner has been cho sen to lead Orides for 1964 65 Betty Bowers as vice-president, Sue Meinhoff as secretary, Sher ry Maxwell as treasurer, Kathy Spehn as historian, and Judy Moorehead as social chairman will assist her. New Officers Elected By Pi Beta Phi Pi Beta Phi members have elected Martha Dibble as- their new president Vice president is [Chris Swanson. Hamilton to Give Faculty Recital Bach's "Partita 4, in D” will open a faculty recital of harpsi chord music to he presented by John Hamilton at 8 p.m. today in the School of Music audito rium. Hamilton, assistant professor of music at the University, also will play selections by Couperin, Ra meau and Scarlatti. Hamilton has appeared as both an organist and harpsichordist throughout the United States. He has also made numerous radio and television appearances, film scores and recordings.
