NOW FOB THE movies down town “Gypsy” is still playing at the McDonald It seems that the subject matter is interesting enough to hold the audiences, particularly the last half-hour when Gypsy grows up The music and acting is good too. The New Eugene Drive-in and the Heilig are featuring two ro mantic comedies: Rock Hudson and Doris Day in “Lover Come •Sack” and Rock Hudson, Gina Lolobrigida, Sandra Dee and Rob by Darin in “Come September.” That Rock really gets around. As for the plots ... if you’ve seen Pillow Talk you’ve got the basic idea. They are both funny, how ever, and that’s a compensation. "What Ever Happened to Baby Jane" with Bette Davis and Joan Chawford is now at the Mayflow er. I do wish someone would an swer that question . . . this is about the third time around for that film. THE McDonald is featuring an excellent double feature this weekend. “Divorce Italian-Style” with Marcello Mastroianni (who ! made such a splash in La Dolce Vita). It is the only film that i I'ime, Newsweek and Saturday Review have agreed on. It is a ale about a man who wishes to divorce his wife but this is against •hf law in Italy Thus he attempts 'o get a lover for her because if he can catch the two together he can shoot his wife and only get ♦hree years in prison for it. Be lieve it or not. this is a comedy. “I Like Money” is the co-fea ‘ure and this stars that wacky ' British actor, Peter Sellers. If nothing else interests you, I vo> could try to figure out a way for snow to melt without leaving my water. That should keep you busy Ticket Sales Slow For Portland Benefit Ticket sales on this campus for "College Premiere." a benefit dance in Portland tonight, haven't been too encourag.ng, according to Walt Evans. local chairman EVANS BLAMED the lack of interest on the heavy social sched ule here this v ekend “It's hard to compete with house dances and the Military Ball on one nignt and Peter. Paul and Mary the next night," he said Tne dance, which will benefit the Portland Symphony, is ex pected to draw several hundred students fiom throughout Oregon and Washington The affair will be held at two different hotels in Portland between 9 p.m. today and 1 am Saturday Hob Whilhelm. who is promot ing the dance at Oregon State, told the Emerald late Thursday that he had sold about 50 tickets. Students were reminded that tick ets would be sold until about 6:30 pm today in front of the Multnomah and Henson Hotels in Portland. ENTERTAINMENT will be pro vided by folk singers Hud and Travis at both hotels The Mult nomah Hotel will be decorated in "Oklahoma”-fashion and will feature Broadway musical com edy performer Jerry Porsche, who will sing several songs, and the dancing music of Jerry Van Hoomison and his orchestra. A lampoon edition of Mademoi selle magazine will feature give away fashions and records. A car toon production by Vern Green, Milton Cam if, and Rube Goldberg will also be featured Door prizes, lantzen, White Stag, and Pendle ton fashions, are planned and Capitol records will be given away as favors to the men.
