UO Splits Twin Bilt With WSU Cougars Oregon'h varsity baseball team split a doubleheader with the Washington State Cougars Sat urday at Pullman, losing the first game 7-4, but winning the night cap 8-1. WSU hurlcr Bob Stephens spaced 7 hita evenly as the Cou gars took the opener. The Duck* jumped off to an early lead on a leadoff homer by John Livingston, and singles by Handy Nosier and Kric llardin, and a squeeze bunt by Ken Jensen made it 2-0 at the end of the second frame. WSU came back with a homer by Zeke Blockinger after the UO scored two more runs In the fourth, and won It In the fifth League Play Over In Girl's Softball Final league games of the Wo men's Intramural softball com petition ended last yeek. Duck Soccer Club Edges Beavers, 4-2 THE UNIVERSITY of Oregon1 Hoccer team beat the Oregon State club 4-2 in a game played at Corvallia Saturday. The inter national team is made up mostly of Congolese, but there are .some 1 Americana on the squad. Other countries represented are: Bel gium, the Netherlands, Korea, ! and Canada. The first half ended with a score of 1-0 in favor of OSU. Jan Broekhoof of the Netherlands scored early in the second half for the Ducks to even the score at 1-all, but the Beavers quickly scored again to go ahead 2-1, Hernii Bontongo of the Congo evened things up with another goal. BKKNAKKD LOLYA put the Webfoots ahead for good with a free kick which traveled over 40 yards. Late in the half, Close Botonga added an insurance goal to give victory to the UO. There will be a match here next Saturday between the same two teams. Patty Berg Wins MUSKOGEE, OKLA. (UPI) Patty Berg captured first place money in the $7,500 Women's In vitational open golf tourney at Muskogee, Oklahoma today. Miss Berg registered a 290 to pick up a purse of $1,200. Shirley Englehorn and Ruth Jessen tied for second with 292. Mickey Wright was next at 297 while Kathy Whitworth and Marlene Kagge had 298’s.
