Webfoots Travel For WSU Series Oregon’s exciting Webfoots, led by the offensive ability of senior forward Charlie Warren, travel to Pullman this weekend to meet Washington State University in a two-game basketball series. Warren, who emerged from last week's series with Idaho as the greatest point producer in Oregon cage history, is cur rently pacing tee Ducks in scor ing with an average of 22.6 points per game. That figure is good enough to place him among the top 40 scorers in the nation. THE WEBFOOTS are fresh from a 91-6-1 trouncing of Idaho in what has to rank as their finest offensive effort of the sea son. Coach Steve Belko will un doubtedly stick with the same starting lineup that produced that victory. In addition to Warren, that group includes senior Bill Sim mons at forward, senior Wally Knecht at center, and sophomores Jerry Anderson and Steve Jones •it guards. Oregon hue's into thn series *ot for Friday and Saturday, with a pair of wins over the Cougars already on the record books this l season. The Webfoots took the measure of Coach Mnrv liarsh man's crew by 91-81 and 81-71 margins at Eugene earlier. wsr COASTS a pair of top flight scorers in G-2 senior guard Terry Bali and 6-6 senior for ward Charlie Sells. Ball was par ticularly effective in the previous series, hitting for 44 points in the two games. Other probable starters for the Cougars are Dwight Damon at forward, Neil Dirom at center, and Byron Vadset. the only sopho more in an otherwise all - senior lineup at guard. The Webfoots carry a 9-11 sea son record into the series with \VSr. Th.e Ducks are 6-3 at home for the season, but on the road have been able to manage only three triumphs in 11 tries. Wrestlers Host Bears Coach Mike Reuter sends his strong University of Oregon wrestling team against the Uni versity of California Friday at McArthur Court. The dual match will get underway at 7 p.m. The YVebfoots enter the match with an 8-1-1 season record. The only blots on the Oregon record are a loss to defending Pacific Coast Intercollegiate champion Oregon State and a tie with Port land State. The Ducks follow up the Cali fornia match by traveling to Cor vallis Saturday for an invitational ; meet, to be conducted under Olympic rules, which includes j Oregon State. Oregon Slate ; Rooks, Multnomah Athletic Club, and the Olympic Club of San Francisco. The Oregon freshmen grapplers are also scheduled for action, venturing to Portland Friday afternoon for a match with the Portland freshmen. Ducklings Slate Salem AAU Team With the Oregon varsity on the road., the Webfoots’ freshman basketball team takes over the local hoop spotlight this week end by meeting Lindberg Dis tributors of Salem at McArthur Court Saturday. Tip-off time is 8 p.m. It will be the second encounter between the two teams. The Ducklings notched a 72-64 deci sion over the Salem AAU outfit in the earlier meeting. Top scorer for the Ducklings, who own a 7-6 season record, is 6-3 center Bo Blair with 123 points. Swimmers Await OSU Meet Here Saturday Oregon's powerful swimming team, the best In the Northwest, will attempt to keep its unde feated status intact Saturday in a dual meet against Oregon State at Leighton Pool. The meet will start at 2 p.m. The Webfoot tankers clinched the mythical Northwest cham pionship by sweeping past Wash ington State and Idaho this week end. The last time these two teams met. the Ducks walked away with an easy 68-27 victory, winning all but two events and setting six meet records. In Saturday night's win over Idaho. Oregon won every event except the diving competition In which they had no entries. The final score of the meet was Ore gon 67, Iduho 24.
