7-5 Over Willamette Webfoots Score Tenth Victory By LAItKY' KI'KTZ of Uie Triumvirate The Oregon Ducks won their 10th game of the season Tuesday afternoon by edging Willamette 7-5 at Halcm. COACH Don Kirnch owed three pitchers for three Innings apiece against the Bearcats. Fred Bal lard started, and was followed by I>ick Brede and Bob Christiansen. Brede got credit for the victory after the Ducks broke u 1-4 tie in the sixth inning. It was Oregon's second win of the year over Willamette. The Ducks topped the Bearcats 12-4 at Howe Field in March 30. THE TWINS won 6-0, thanks to homers by Bob Allison and Reno Bertoia, The world-champion Pittsburgh Pirates relied on a three-run ninth-inning homer by Bill Vir don to subdue the San Francisco Giants 8-7 at Candlestick Park. VETERAN first-baseman Ted Kluszewski hammered two hom ers to lead the Los Angeles Ang els to a 7-2 win over Baltimore. Kluszewski drove in five runs for the upstart Angels. St. Louis went 10 innings to down Milwaukee 2-1, and hand Warren Spahn a heartbreaking loss. Daryl Spencer’s homer did the trick for the Cardinals. CINCINNATI downed Chicago 7-1 on Jim O’Toole’s four-hitter, and Cleveland rapped Detroit pitchers for 18 hits in recording a 9-5 victory. Kansas City outscored Boston 5-2 as Kay Herbert held the Ked Sox in check all the way. The LA Dodgers nipped Philadelphia, 6-2. TODAY, only two games are scheduled in each league. This afternoon in the American League, lefty Billy Pierce will pitch for Chicago against Bennie Daniels of the Washington Sena tors, and Los Angeles righthand er Ned Garver will oppose Steve Barber of the Orioles. IN THE National League, Pittsburgh will send Vcrn Law against Billy Loes of the Giants, and Philadelphia will start Frank Sullivan against Johnny Podres of the Dodgers.
