CELTS WIN CROWN For the third consecutive year, the Boston Celtics are champions of the National Basketball Asso ciation. The Celts defeated the St. Louis Hawks 121-112 in Bos ton Tuesday, to win the best-of seven series, four games to one. THE CELTICS led by only one j point, 62-61, at halftime, but ral lied strongly in the last two quar ters to clinch the win. A capacity crowd at the Boston Garden watched the home team wrap up its fourth professional champion ship in five years. Defensive star Bill Russell, 6-10 center from the University of San Francisco, lived up to his award as the NBA's most valuable play er. He paced all scorers with 30 . points. TI1E CLOSEST contest was the game between Sigma Alpha Epsilon and Sigina Phi Epsilon, which went into an extra sixth inning of play before the Sig Ep's were able to down SAE 10 to 9. In the first half of the sixth inning, with the score tied at 9 all, the SAE's went down with only one man reaching base. IN OTIIKU competition, Phi Kappa Pai defeated Tan Kappa Epsilon 3 to 1. The score wan tied at one all until Phi Pai scor ed two runs in the fourth inning to end the game. Phi Kappa Sigma easily down ed Chi Phi 15 to 5. Chi Phi scored four of their five runs in the final fourth inning. The Phi Kap’s failed to score only in the third inning. * PHI SIGMA KAPPA easily routed Pi Kappa Alpha 17 to 5 Tn the highest scoring game of the day.
