Webfoots slate Cougars in baseball series here Oregon's baseball squad will meet the Washington State Cou gars Wednesday and Thursday at Howe Field in the second series Oregon bowlers eye NW tourney on SU allies The Northwest Regional games will be held at the Student Union Thursday through Saturday. April 2?-25 according to tournanjenl director Lou Bellis^no. Competition for the schools in the Association of College Unions will begin Thursday with the first team series in bowling slated to begin at S p.m. Twenty schools will compete in the tournament which will in clude competition in bowling, bil liards and table tennis. Doubles and singles in bowling are scheduled to get underway Saturday morning at 9. Times have not as yet been set for bil liards and table tennis. Trophies for the three-day tour nament will be awarded at 1 p.m. Saturday in the Student Union. Schools competing in addition to Oregon are Southern Oregon College of Education. OSC. Lewis and Clark, Seattle University, University of Washington. Cen tral -Washington College of Edu cation. Eastern Washington Col lege of Education, Pacific Uni versity. Nevada. Olympic Junior College, Yakima Valley Junior College, Montana State Univer sity. Gonzaga, Western Washing ton College of Education, Idaho. Washington State. Coach Buck Bailey's Cougars along with Oregon State are co favorites for the title this sea son. The Ducks will be out to upend the Washington Staters. Coach Don Kirsch’s Webfoots ended Oregon State's 15 game winning streak last’Saturday and will be out to dampen the title hopes of WSC as Well as enhance their hopes of capUiring the title. Washington State and Oregon are currently tied with two other squads for the loop lead with 1-t records. Oregon has a 12-7 season record as compared to WSC's ten wins and 9 losses. s Bailey's squad has been a good pitch, no hit club so far this sea son. Coach Bailey is trying to bol ster his light hitting outfield by switching pitcher Bob Boling broke into center field. Boling ! broke hit .318 in preseason play j and hit four home runs. Arnold Pleasant, WSC third • baseman led the Cougar tutting i attack with a .411 average dur 1 ing the preseason campaign.
