Ext 375 Two-Year Awards Made by Britain Lists are now open of two year Marshall scholarships for seniors and graduate students to study at British universities. Awards include fare and $1540 a year living expenses. Three scholarships will be awarded in each of four divisions of the United States. In the three years of the program. 36 Amer icans have received awards. Win ners have come from 23 states but no Oregon student has re ceived one. Any American student of either sex, married or single, under 28 years old, and having three years’ college education is eligible. Awards are made on the basis of character as well as scholarship. Deadline for applications is Oc tober 31. They may be addressed to H. M. Consul General. San Francisco, Cal. Applications should include preference for uni versity in Britain and study sub jects. Nixon Meeting (continued from page one) leadership at the time purposely caused the U.S. to get into the war. Nixon remarked that formes1 President Truman was right in sending troops to Korea when he (lid. However, he said, the past Democratic administrative poli cies "made war more possible." Answering Stevenson's charge that the Sue?, crisis showed al arming lack of judgement. Nixon replied that the situation is be ing handled by Secretary Dulles and President Kisenhower "in the best way they believe possible." He said only time would tell, but he had complete faith in Eisen hower's record. In answering one of Kefauver'a charges brought up by newsmen, that "one in ten Americans do not have enough to eat,” Nixon replied that “pockets of poverty” do exist, but thut "considerable progress" is being made to elim inate them. The Eisenhower ad ministration, he said, has a good record in this area. UT Season Ducats Remain for Sale Season tickets to the Univer sity Theatre's productions will be on sale today on the mezza nine of the Student Union from 1 to 5 p.m. Next week students can obtain tickets at the Univer sity Theatre box office in Villard Hall, beginning Monday. The ticket, which sells for five dollars, entitles the holder to re served seats at five of the six major productions of the yeur. Members receive material in ad vance, and may indicate the date they wish to attend und the ap proximate location of their seals. Tickets are transferrable, both from one person to another, and from one production to another. The University Theatre also offers periodic bonus attractions free to season ticket holders. Special arrangements are made by the UT to enable its patrons to attend special programs at reduced prices. The first attractions which will be offered will be "The Country Girl," on Sept. 28 and 29, Oct. 5 and 6. and the "Turnabout Theatre" on Oct. 8. The box office of the Uni versity Theatre will open Mon day, Sept. 24. Saturday Mourning Set For OSC Class Sessions More than 150 Saturday morn ing c lasses will he held at .Oregon State college to allow for an ex pected fall enrollment of tiJMXi.
