Nixon Meeting
(continued from page one)
leadership at the time purposely
caused the U.S. to get into the
war.
Nixon remarked that formes1
President Truman was right in
sending troops to Korea when he
(lid. However, he said, the past
Democratic administrative poli
cies "made war more possible."
Answering Stevenson's charge
that the Sue?, crisis showed al
arming lack of judgement. Nixon
replied that the situation is be
ing handled by Secretary Dulles
and President Kisenhower "in the
best way they believe possible."
He said only time would tell, but
he had complete faith in Eisen
hower's record.
In answering one of Kefauver'a
charges brought up by newsmen,
that "one in ten Americans do
not have enough to eat,” Nixon
replied that “pockets of poverty”
do exist, but thut "considerable
progress" is being made to elim
inate them. The Eisenhower ad

record in this area.
