Westling to Lead Road Conference A. M. Westling, planning and public works consultant, Bureau Of Municipal Research and Service on the campus, will be presiding officer for the opening session of the Roads and Streets Conference at Oregon State College Feb. 23 to 24. This year’s conference is de signed to serve those who design, build, and maintain roads and streets. Practical information will be exchanged in the discussions. Cal Band Chief Quitsafter'Loss' BERKELEY, CAL., Jan. 9 (UP) —Ohio State University today completed its New Year’s victory over the University of California when Prof. C. C. Cushing,-veteran director of California’s band, handed in his resignation. After Ohio State’s 17 to 14 foot ball win over California in the Rose Bowl many newspaper writ ers declared that the State band was even more impressive in out shining the California horn foot ers. Honorary to Sell Fudge Wednesday Phi Chi Theta, business women’s honorary, will sell homemade fudge to University students Wed nesday in the main hall of the Business Administration building. The sale will be sponsored to raise funds for the Women’s Busi ness Conference Jan. 19. Onthank to Attend Personnel Meeting Karl W. Onthank, director of the University Graduate Place ment Service, will attend a fed eral personnel council meeting in Portland Thursday. All federal agencies in the Port land area will be represented at the meeting. Discussion will be held on careers in public service. Onthank will also meet with employers and University alumni to discuss Portland employment possibilities for students and grad uates. KOACj Broadcasts Weekly Seminar The first regular University class to be on the radio will be broadcast by station KOAC begin ning this week. The class is an undergraduate seminar “Plato’s Republic,” phi losophy 407, which is instructed by Dr. Alburey Castell, head of the philosophy department. The class will be heard on the station for 30 minutes each week at a time to be decided upon later.
