■ " ^ ' — __ Assistant Dean •Enters School George Hall, recently resigned from the post of dean of men at the University, is enrolled this fall in the graduate school here. j Hall quit his post on the Oregon faculty to work for a doctor’s de gree in educational administra tion. No one has been named as yet to fill the position vacated by Hall. Assistant Dean of Men, Virgil S. Fogdall is at present handling the duties of the office of the dean of men. Dean to Edit Book Dean of the education school, P. B. Jacobson, left Eugene Monday j for Chicago, where he will serve as one of the editors for the Na tional Educational association yearbook. Miss Stewart won the Miss Oregon City title in the 1947 Miss Oregon con test. At home she and her brothers and sisters put on plays and charged a nickel admission. Her first opportunity came at fourteen when a producer called up her sister who already had a movie contract and ended by accepting Miss Young. At this point in her career Miss Young makes only two pictures a year, leaving ample time for her husband, her two young sons, and i a daughter. It is not a question of career or husband. Bernard Resigns Announcement has been made by the education school of the resignation of H. W. Bernard, as sistant professor in education psy chology. W Welcome Girlsjj To Membership The active part that upperclass men can play in the Y.W.C.A. was stressed by cabinet members at in formal house firesides Wednes day, the opening day of the Y membership drive. The publjc affairs committee is this year planning to sponsor in formal discussions directed at those of voting age. Foreign af fairs will again undertake the re sponsibility of meeting and hold ing discussions with foreign stu dents on campus. Beryl Howard, worship chairman, is making ar rangements to have leaders in dif ferent religious denominations as guests at the Y and also for visits to different churches. Freshman commissions are this term discussing orientation to the campus. Beth Basler, chairman, has requested that fresman women attend the commission that they checked as first preference on the commission slips they were given the night of th fireside. Nila Desinger, chairman of the drive, has expressed satisfaction as to its success thus far. “It looks like again this year the University of Oregon will have one of the highest student percentages in membership,” stated Miss Desin ger. She has requested that house membership chairmen turn in membership cards accompanied with the one dollar fee before they leave the campus today.
