Westminster Sets Program Highlight of the social open house at Westminster house from 2 to 4 Saturday afternoon will be a program of vocal and piano num bers. Games, refreshments, and music will round out the afternoon. All students are invited to this winter term get-acquainted party. Those participating in the pro gram are: Alice English, freshman in music, a piano number; Esther Carter, freshman in music, and La Rene Thompson, freshman in busi ness administration, will sing. Charlotte Calder, junior in busi ness administration, is general chairman; Shirley Priestley, fresh man in journalism, is program chairman; and Dorothy Herman, sophomore in liberal arts, is re freshment chairman. The open house is sponsored by the personnel house representative on the cam pus. Lost-Found Still Get*: Soup, Nuts 'n Everything Books, a camera, a couple of bandanna’s, and a pair of gloves are the newest items in the lost and found department this term. Still unclaimed from the pre vious term are numerous bandan nas, gloves, purses without identi fication, books, an assortment of pens, and other articles. The de partment is located in the heating plant on University street. Dr. Joseph Tiffin, Purdue uni versity psychologist, collaborated in development of the ortho-rater, a master machine for testing the eyes. Students' Names Added To Infirmary Sick Roll Newest members of the sick list at the infirmary include Jean Bal lentyne, Douglas Moore, Gladys Stevenson, Betty Ann Brown, and Erros Osterloh. The infirmary, located at 13th and Onyx streets, provides medical care for all registered students. Frosh Placement Exams All freshmen enrolled at the beginning of this term are re quired to take a placement ex amination, Dr. Leona E. Tyler of the psychology department an nounced Friday. The examina tion for this term’s new enroll ment of freshmen will be given today at 9 a.m. in room 203, Villard. Former Webfoot Given Air Award To his previously won air medal, First. Lt. Stephen E. Rice, ex-stu dent of Oregon’s class of 1942, can now all the oak leaf cluster for meritorious achievement while par ticipating in bomber combat opera tions over Germany. Lt. Rice is the pilot of a B-17 Flying Fortress in the 91st bombardment group, the group that includes such famous Forts as the “Memphis Belle” and “General Ike,” and he recently took part in the group’s 260th aerial assault. A graduate of Springfield high school in 1937, Lt. Rise attended Oregon and was employed as a radio mechanic at Boeing Aircraft before joining the air force. He has ieen overseas since July 1944. Combellack, no new courses were added to the printed schedule of classes this term. Num erous sections have been added, but many of these were necessary after the start of classes last fall. There has also been the usual shifting of instructors, and class meeting places. In women’s physical education, ] sections in basic, elementary, inter mediate, and advanced riding, bas ketball, games, and badminton have been added. Friday and addi tional section in general psychol ogy 201 was announced for 4 p.m. Monday, Wednesday, and Friday under Dr. H. R. Crosland. Late registration of students will continue until Saturday, Jan uary 13. Alum Finishes Army Course Formerly head of the University news bureau, Capt. George H. God frey, an Oregon graduate of 1929, has recently completed an informa tion and education class at the school for personnel service, Lex ington, Va. The course prepares officers to carry the war department’s infor mation program to soldiers. The objective of the program is to aid soldiers in becoming better adjust ed to army life, keep them in formed as to the course of the war and war news of the world, and to equip them mentally, as well as physically, for fighting. Capt. Godfrey will eb stationed at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri.
