Canoe tilting and log rolling entrants must give their names to either Carolyn Holmes, Frances Cox, or Russ Hudson by tomorrow. There will be prizes of a ticket to the Junior Prom for the winners of both events. “We’re worried about the prin cess,” Whitely added, “as we’ve had more rain here in one day than she has seen in Arabia for the last five years. She’s such a delicate, fragile thing that she might catch pneumonia.” Jupe Pluvius Won't Halt Canoe Festival Rain or shine, Oregon’s canoe fete floats will sail down the mill race before University students "nd mothers Saturday night, Jim Carney, chairman, announced yes terday. Declaring that, if necessary, a special committee will be on hand to sell umbrellas for the occa sion, Carney said that the coast guard said last night that the storm would end today. All float construction must be completed by Friday afternoon. Saturday, house representatives may put on the final coats of paint and papering, Carney stated. A mixed group of singers from Delta Tau Delta and Gamma Phi Beta will take part in the fete program. A complete “story” of Arabian Nights will accompany appearance of each float as it sails its millrace path. Bill Bishop, student magician, will present a program of magic tricks during intermission. Blouses . . . . 84c Architects to Hold Festival Mag 8-11 Drawing a large number of stu dents and. staff members in the University landscape architecture division, will be a garden festival to be held on the Oregon State campus May 8 to 11. A banquet, to be held Friday evening in the Memorial Union building, will celebrate the 30th anniversary of the teaching of landscape architecture in the Oregon state system of higher education. Professor A. L. Peck, Corval lis, head of the Oregon State landscape architecture schools, will also be feted for completing his thirtieth year of teaching the profession. Professor Peck has been an instructor in landscape architecture in Oregon since it was first introduced into the sys tem. Dr. A. D. Taylor, past presi dent of the American Society of Landscape Architects, will be the principal speaker, and Judge Rob ert D. Sawyer of Bend is sched uled as toastmaster. Staff members from the Uni versity who intend talcing part in the festival include Professor W. R. B. Willcox, Associate Pro fessors F. A. Cuthbert and Eyler Brown, Instructor D. E. Thomp son, and their wives.
