Green is Glamorous By JOKY CHRYSfALf, “This is a very interesting book,” remarked Daphne, in a tone which could have been called conversational but which also could have been said to have a note of command in it. Toad patiently put down her econ notes. One did not attempt to study when Daphne was reading a book which interested her. Daphne continued, “It says that color is very important in our Dash of Gypsy, Cup of Tea Equal Fashion Preview Gypsy skirts, hats that are big straw baskets, an.d gay kick pleats, frisked across the cozy room of the YWCA bungalow last Thursday when spring fash ions from downtown stores were previewed over a cup of hot tea. Ready to drift along with the spring snow was June Chesney dressed in a wool gabardine ski suit, a navy water-proofed jac ket and a clarion red cap that accented a white sweater. Heath er and English lavender walked across the bungalow moor when Betsy Hiller strolled by in a Glen plaid suit, color of sun maise. Tap - dancing Helen Holden swung gracefully before the tea sippers in a dress with a wide navy skirt that had a flirt of red at the bottom and a white shirt maker top. Fashionable as a crumpet at tea-time was Mari lyn Campbell in a pastel blue herring-bone suit with pink Eas ter egg sweater. Elaine MeFar lane came springing in in a cool spun rayon dress in two shades of blue. Betty Christensen pir outted in a striped skirted, red bloused dress, gypsyish as camp fires and gold bangles. Daphne pon^ dered, “But also in a much wider sphere—did you know that col ors affect your moods?” "Oh absolutely. I have noticed that big, brown eyes have a very definite effect on me.” “Have you ever thought,” Daph ne struggled, attacking the prob lem from a different angle, “that while your repulsive roommate can wear every shade of yellow there is and look gorgeous in it, the minute you even put a dande lion under your chin you remind people of an old dead leaf in a gutter?” Toad shuddered. She would have been just as happy if Daphne had not chosen a gutter for the setting. “Almost every one you see these days is popping about in the wrong color,” Daphne continued relent lessly. “It says that if the wave lengths of the color one is wearing do not correspond with one’s per sonality, one radiates no joie de vivre; one only exists!” “Gosh, how horrible," Toad breathed deeply. “Do you think if I went out now in my green suit I would radiate at ALL?” Daphne wrinkled her brow in serious thought. “Well, it’s still daylight, you know—but I think if you were CAREFUL it might be all right.” Patter aha she cried pouncing on the typewriter* keys this is a wonderful opportunity not only for me but for anyone who might accidentally happen to read it that iff for all the clever and “hoomorous” (lil abner) minded ones who would like to loosen the draw strings or let down their hair or dig into their souvenirs and come up with bits of driftwood and unpublished signs of genius in general or even funny little pictures they have drawn or remarks (nice) that they have heard in eateries and classes and houses etc. aha she was saying until she remembered that Friday or Saturday or whenever Feb. 14 is isn’t very far off and all copy has got to be gotten in wouldn’t somebody else like to help spike LEMON PUNCH? —Pat Erickson.
