What’s in a Color?
Green is Glamorous
By JOKY CHRYSfALf,
“This is a very interesting book,” remarked Daphne, in a tone which
could have been called conversational but which also could have been
said to have a note of command in it.
Toad patiently put down her econ notes. One did not attempt to
study when Daphne was reading a book which interested her.
Daphne continued, “It says that color is very important in our

Ready to drift along with the

dressed in a wool gabardine ski

Tap - dancing Helen Holden

lives: color tells us many things.”
‘‘Like rose colored effects on
collars?” queried Toad brightly,
showing an interest in the subject.
“Well . . . yes . . Daphne pon^
dered, “But also in a much wider
sphere—did you know that col
ors affect your moods?”
"Oh absolutely. I have noticed
that big, brown eyes have a very
definite effect on me.”
“Have you ever thought,” Daph
ne struggled, attacking the prob

while your repulsive roommate
can wear every shade of yellow

the minute you even put a dande
lion under your chin you remind
people of an old dead leaf in a

would have been just as happy if
Daphne had not chosen a gutter
for the setting.
“Almost every one you see these
days is popping about in the wrong
color,” Daphne continued relent

lengths of the color one is wearing
do not correspond with one’s per

“Gosh, how horrible," Toad
breathed deeply. “Do you think if I
went out now in my green suit I
would radiate at ALL?”
Daphne wrinkled her brow in
serious thought. “Well, it’s still

you were CAREFUL it might be all

The Deb Decides
By MAKY KAY RIORDAN
Right Combinations!
Very right, very bright com
binations —- the paintbrush
make-up kit to have every trick
of cosmetics absolutely under
your finger tips. The kit is
just like the grammar school
paint boxes we used to have so
much fun with, only this one
contains six different shades of
rouge and six individual lip
sticks to give you color harm
ony for every costume and oc
casion. Several shades of-eye
brow pencils and mascara also.
Tiffany-Davis features them.
Nautical
- ’N’Nice
Ahoy, you
fashion-conscious
young women! Girls in every
port have given up their hearts
to the nautical collection that
just sailed in, at Beard’s, and
in formals, you’ll find an amaz
ingly large group; one smart
favorite has a white sharkskin
skirt with a silk jersey navy
b’ue bodice (shirred V-neck i
and a tiny white jacket of
sharkskin . . . 19.75.
Winter s Over!
So celebrate with one of the
new Gaymode shades for the
light shades of spring. Tulip
and Arbor are the very newest
and this year have more yellow
in them than stockings have had
for many a season. If you can't
part with the rosy-red cast,
you’ll like Robin and Crocus.
These stockings come in any
thread weight and also in the
nylon at J. C. Penney’s.
Heart-shaped
Go out and buy the girl a
valentine gift now, and really
put yourself on top of her fav
orite list this weekend. At Mill
ers you can find a heart shaped j
box of candy with all the valen
tine trimmings in any size from
25c to $2.00. Whitman's, Gab
leins. and Miss Saylor's — all
well-known names in the coed's
world. Don't forget—Millers!

Doohinky
A South American wooaen
head . . . terrifying in its ex
pression with gold earrings,
gaudy jewelry. This Figi is
lander has the most eccentric
hair arrangement — it stands
straight up and definitely adds
to his appearance. All of the
new spring costume jewelry
sells at the Broadway for 98c.
That Wide
Eyed Look
You’ll really
have a wide-eyed
look of amaze
ment when you see the wonder
ful bargains at Montgomery
Wards in skirts for 1.9S. The
new jungle cloth dees not
wrinkle or crease and the style
is perfect . . . gored and not too
full to be right for the new
skirt fashion. Comes in blue,
tan, and rose.
Spring’s Coming!
Banana — a cool interesting
shade for spring. At Hadley’s
is a two-piece dress of banana
alpaca ... it has a gored skirt,
with just the right fullness, a
fitted bodice, buttoned down
the back. To relieve the sim
plicity two tiny pockets are
shirred into the material at the
front of the bodice, and the
same treatment is given the
neck, giving the impression of
a collar . . . 10.95.
