Gregory, sports editor of the Oregonian, in his sports gossip, says, “What on earth ailed the Ore gon rooters at the California game? They were dead. No signs of life from tlie Oregon section—nothing between the halves. Something wrong with that vaunted ‘Oregon spirit,’ and it wasn’t on the part of the team. The players can’t .yell as well as play-—a good cheer in the pinch has a heartening effect.” What about it, Oregon rooters? Mr. Gregory is more than half right, isn’t he?
